Present (Imperative mood) - Spanish Verbs
We use the Presente of the Imperative mood to give orders and instructions. This
is the only tense that can only be conjugated in all persons except the first person
singular. The reflexive verbs also change, the reflexive pronoun remains at the
end of the conjugated verb.
Regular Spanish Verbs
To conjugate the regular verbs in the present tense of the imperative mood, you
take the infinitive form of the verb as it is found in the dictionary, you remove
the group endings (-ar, -er, -ir) and replace them with the personal endings. The
stem of the verb remains the same. The personal endings for the Present Tense of
the Imperative Mood are listed below.
Example the verb "andar":
yo - not conjugated
tú - anda
él, ella, usted - ande
nosotros - andemos
vosotros - andad
ellos, ellas, ustedes - anden
TIP: Most Spanish verbs fall under the -ar group.
Irregular Spanish Verbs
Some of the irregular verbs can be highly irregular with spelling changes.
Example the verb "ir":
yo - not conjugated
tú - ve
él, ella, usted - vaya
nosotros - vayamos
vosotros - id
ellos, ellas, ustedes - vayan

Verbos Regulares
Para conjugar los verbos regulares en el tiempo presente del modo imperativo, cogemos
la forma de infinitivo del verbo tal y como nos la encontramos en el diccionario,
le quitamos la terminación de infinitivo (-ar, -er o -ir) y la sustituimos por la
terminación personal correspondiente. La raíz del verbo se queda igual. Las terminaciones
personales son las siguientes para el tiempo presente del modo imperativo:
Ejemplo el verbo "andar":
yo - no se conjuga
tú - anda
él, ella, usted - ande
nosotros - andemos
vosotros - andad
ellos, ellas, ustedes - anden
Nota: La mayoría de los verbos españoles pertenecen al grupo terminado en -ar.
Verbos Irregulares
Algunos verbos irregulares pueden ser altamente irregules y pueden tener muchos
cambios ortográficos.
Ejemplo el verbo "ir".
